Job Title: Church Pianist

Accountable to: The Pastor as Head of Staff through Director of Music in Conjunction with Praise Coordinator

Purpose: To provide appropriate piano music during services of worship

Status: Part-Time

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Serve as church Pianist
   1. To plan, prepare, and play piano music appropriate to each service of worship
      1. Prelude, Hymn, Praise Song, Anthem, Hymn, Postlude
         1. Occasionally Communion and Special Services and Music Cantatas
   2. To accompany the congregation in the singing of hymns, to accompany the choir’s singing of scheduled music, collaborate with the praise team, and to accompany soloists as directed by the Director of Music
   3. To play with other instrumentalists and collaborators
      1. Duets with organ, flute, horns, etc.
   4. To inform the Director of Music for substitutes when not able to be present
   5. To attend rehearsals of all practices for music program 
   6. To oversee the care and maintenance of the piano as needed
      1. Such as humidifier and tuning
2. Serve as a member of the FPC Griffin Staff
   1. Attend weekly Worship Team Meetings with Pastor, Director of Music, and Praise Coordinator. 
3. Participate in the Annual Eastertide and Christmastide
   1. To play in Holy Week services
      1. Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Sonrise Service, and Easter Worship
   2. To play on Christmas Eve

Requirements

• A disciple of Jesus Christ, committed to an ongoing and growing relationship of intimacy with Him
• A desire to be a part of the FPC Griffin community
• Communicate in a friendly manner with church leadership, choir, and members of the congregation
• Be willing to adjust and adapt to changes in the worship order and styles depending on mission and vision set by the Pastor and Director of Music. 
• Works well with a team while be able to self-driven toward improvement
• Can sight read music proficiently. It would be of extra-benefit if can play from chord charts
• Open to playing varying styles of music with the possible ability to improvise

• Salary: Part-time: Commiserate with experience and skill level. Compensation is per session.
• Vacations Days: 2 weeks (one rehearsal and Sunday is equivalent to one week)
